This week I managed to find energy and time to stop in Paris for three days. I have been to the “City of Light” millions of times, but this was a special occasion, something that it was marked in my calendar for two months already, and I knew it was going to be so much fun. So, there was no way I was going to miss it.
The occasion was Mao Padilha’s birthday who decided to escape from New York for ten days in Paris and London; following him was the lovely NY columnist and hostess Darian Darling.
If the NY movie ” Paris is Burning ” didn’t really affect that city… don’t worry !! We finished the job !! Mao and Darian got there two days earlier, so by the time I arrived, they were on a New York speed state of mind…meaning that we were about to cover every corner of that city, nothing stopped us, not even the silly rain !!
Do I need to say that Darian Darling wore Louboutins from morning to really late hours in the next morning? Never missed a beat, never complained of pain…and that was just in Paris. That’s impressive on my über book of style resistance. Darian is amazing, she looked absolutely perfect every day, showing an amazing style and effortless fierceness !! When she walked into the grand Crystal Room Restaurant wearing gloves, some women gave her the look of death. They were jealous !!!
Givenchy, YSL, Cafe Francis, Crazy Horse, Moulin Rouge, Kokon To Zai, Pompidour Center, Louvre, Montmartre, Cafe de Flore, Crystal Room Restaurant, Laduree (every day), Cafe du Trocadero…I mean…and these are only some of the places I can remember from the top of my head. Mao wanted to kill us of French beauty overload.
It doesn’t matter how late we got back to the hotel, to our separate rooms in different floors…the next morning we were up and ready for breakfast, and to start the day with no delays. Mao was a perfect chic host, and kept us laughing and happy all the time. I felt privileged to have been invited to be with them in Paris. I even met Jill, who is Mao’s best friend living in Paris. She was with us at Mao’s birthday dinner at the Crystal Room Restaurant in the Baccarat Museum building, and she took us to really cool places in Paris, a “simple” American girl living a lovely life in Paris. Oui, oui…
Thank you Mao, Darian and Jill !!
