This week, I spent two days in Manhattan Beach, a city located in southwestern Los Angeles County. The weather was really gray and windy, but it didn’t stop me from exploring the place a little. I went for a walk in the beach, and I took several photos, the birds made me feel connected with some type of inner freedom, so these photos above are my favorites….and so is the shirt from the movie ” Cet Obscur Objet Du Desir “, a 1977 film directed by Luis Buñuel.

gazeLLe for eric haLLiweLL

Last week, photographer Eric Halliwell asked me if I wanted to be a part of a PSA he was producing about gay bullying, he named the project THAT WAS ME. I have known Eric from the nightlife and since we never had a chance to collaborate on anything, I think this was a good opportunity, and the cause is worthwhile. Needless to say, that just the idea of getting dressed up for the video was already exciting, but I should have paid more attention to Eric’s email explaining the details about how and what he needed for the video. When he arrived I was ready…lol..I mean really ready…I though it would be a full body thing…and only God knows what else I thought….all Eric needed was a few important words about being bullied. So I did my part, and since we were killing time waiting for Chevonne Glitzzi and Paul Alexander to come over, Eric and I went to my building rooftop to take a few shots of my look, which has always some Leigh Bowery inspiration…in my creative process, I wanted my face to express being in a prison, resulting from the fear of being bullied, showing only one eye which dared to see the world outside…the wrinkled fabrics represent an anguish of the soul trapped in the body that has no movement, only the desire to run from the pain …the flowers represent the need to hold on to some beauty, in this case, the orange roses have the meaning of enthusiasm and passion…here these feelings are towards life, that’s why I am standing in the water. I never being bullied, I have been harassed but I fought back…my idea of the victims of bulling is that they are in a corner, and unfortunately they can’t fight. I loved the final result, the photos are beautiful.
