shame with gazeLLe and alexsander freitas

No people, it is not what you are thinking; we are both very happy in long term relationships! But, the story behind this image is actually very funny. My long time friend Alexsander Freitas whom I know for over 15 years from Rio de Janeiro, now he lives in Los Angeles and he has become a very famous porn star. Alexsander came to New York to be a quest of honor for the Mickey Boardman party on Eastern Bloc (July20th)

I always take photos of Alexsander when he comes to New York…just for the fun of it. This time around we did a shoot in the Liberty Corner King Room at The Standard Hotel. I spent the whole afternoon shooting him, we finished around 11pm, we opened a bottle of Veuve to celebrate…then we went to club.

We had planned that the next day before check out, that we were going to do a shoot of me dressed up as Gazelle….well that was the plan before a bottle of Veuve Cliquot, 6 long island iced teas, maybe three or four shots that he drunk. When we came back to the hotel…Alexsander was so passed out that clearly he was not going to be up at 7 to shoot me….so the only thing left for me to do was to do it myself…so I did. I couldn’t pass the chance to have a photo inspired by the sex scene of the movie “Shame” filmed in the same hotel.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have the time to dress up…so the new concept was more like the morning solitude of a mature mysterious man( a cross dresser maybe?) watching the sun arrive while the young stranger man sleeps alone uncovered in the bed…after a “long night” ! The truth is that the young man was passed out (lol), and he was sleeping until almost before check out time.

I showed the photos to him later of course, and he still can’t believe that I did it alone….I had 10 seconds to jump around the bed and to stay put for the shot…and I did it over and over again for almost 30 minutes for each position.   Alexander has a tattoo on his neck, it says ” Trust No Bitch “….I told him that his new next tattoo should say ” Trust no Gazelle ” …

Well, I was finally back at the Yotel for the breakfast brunch hosted by Darian Darling and Errickson Wilcox. The last and first time I was there was when it opened, and that was an insane morning (see video link below).
Errickson does a great job as the host/MC on the floor, he presented entertainer Heather Litteerr for two life singing songs, and she brought more joy to the space by inviting patrons to do the conga…It is a fun place, the vibe is great, the food is delicious, the music is cool…and the crowd is mixed with the cool & beautiful and the curious & lost…perfect mix for a Saturday brunch in New York.

mao padilha’s birthday in paris…oui, oui…

Bathroom of the Crystal Room Restaurant ( Baccarat Museum )

This week I managed to find energy and time to stop in Paris for three days. I have been to the “City of Light” millions of times, but this was a special occasion, something that it was marked in my calendar for two months already, and I knew it was going to be so much fun. So, there was no way I was going to miss it.

The occasion was Mao Padilha’s birthday who decided to escape from New York for ten days in Paris and London; following him was the lovely NY columnist and hostess Darian Darling.

If the NY movie ” Paris is Burning ” didn’t really affect that city… don’t worry !! We finished the job !! Mao and Darian got there two days earlier, so by the time I arrived, they were on a New York speed state of mind…meaning that we were about to cover every corner of that city, nothing stopped us, not even the silly rain !!

Do I need to say that Darian Darling wore Louboutins from morning to really late hours in the next morning? Never missed a beat, never complained of pain…and that was just in Paris. That’s impressive on my ├╝ber book of style resistance. Darian is amazing, she looked absolutely perfect every day, showing an amazing style and effortless fierceness !! When she walked into the grand Crystal Room Restaurant wearing gloves, some women gave her the look of death. They were jealous !!!

Givenchy, YSL, Cafe Francis, Crazy Horse, Moulin Rouge, Kokon To Zai, Pompidour Center, Louvre, Montmartre, Cafe de Flore, Crystal Room Restaurant, Laduree (every day), Cafe du Trocadero…I mean…and these are only some of the places I can remember from the top of my head. Mao wanted to kill us of French beauty overload.

It doesn’t matter how late we got back to the hotel, to our separate rooms in different floors…the next morning we were up and ready for breakfast, and to start the day with no delays. Mao was a perfect chic host, and kept us laughing and happy all the time. I felt privileged to have been invited to be with them in Paris. I even met Jill, who is Mao’s best friend living in Paris. She was with us at Mao’s birthday dinner at the Crystal Room Restaurant in the Baccarat Museum building, and she took us to really cool places in Paris, a “simple” American girl living a lovely life in Paris. Oui, oui…

Thank you Mao, Darian and Jill !!

hanging out in buenos aires

Cafe Tortoni / Buenos Aires
11/23/11

This week I was in Buenos Aires, where I spent a lovely afternoon in the company of Roger Padilha and Evan Lenhoff, dear friends who are also from New York.

We met first at Cafe Tortoni, the oldest coffee place in Argentina; then we went out exploring the city, we walked everywhere, from the Recoleta Cemetery to La Casa Rosada…we even encountered a street demonstration where the protesters were marching to the sound of drums.

The weather was simply marvelous, and I spotted the rainbow umbrella(see photo) in a Chinese bazaar…so I had to have it.

The Tahitians are so warm. Every single experience I had in Tahiti and Moorea were so pleasant. You really feel the happiness. There is always a smile and a way of making you so welcomed, it is not automatic and it was contagious. They are indeed happy, which leads you to feel the same…

mOOrea island is heart shaped

If it wasn’t enough to be in Tahiti…we went for two days to the beautiful island of Moorea, located only an hour by ferry from Papeete. Mo’orea means yellow lizard in Tahitian, if you look in a map, you will notice that Moorea resembles a heart. It is impossible to describe the beauty of it with all their coral passes and lagoons.
