artist Scooter LaForge with his friend/muse, the photographer Johnny Rozsa

After great collaborations with companies like Neutrogena, Patricia Field , CA-RIO-CA WEAR, V-FilesAdidas and Walter Van Beirendonck, it wasn’t such a big surprise to me when New York based artist Scooter LaForge  was invited to work with a world recognized brand name such as DIOR.
Scooter was hired to PAINT neon poison flowers on over 20 mirrors at the international launch of DIOR Poison Girl in New York City at the Poison Club, the party was hosted by Camille Rowe and it was definitely an event filled with glamorous chaos; from Bela Hadid to Keke Palmer, gorgeous ladies were all over the space drinking Veuve and posing at all the photos booths spread all over. Even I did the Dior way!

the launch of un:load

The launch of UN:LOAD, the premiere conscious contemporary collection by the fashion brand UN:DO was rather a busy event in the space Wallplay Chelsea.
UN:LOAD is a collection curated to bring awareness towards gun violence; it aims to reduce this type of violence though the lens of fashion by creating awareness and raising funds to save lives in communities across the US, with 20% of its profits going to the non profit organization Cure Violence.
The launch had several interesting art installations involving guns and bullets. I took a selfie standing on a bunch of bullets….check the quick video I did of the party vibe and also go the UN:DO Instagram page so you can be familiar with the new collection. Very cool.

Grace Coddington & Stephen Jones

Where water was replaced by Veuve Clicquot, Bookmarc was packed to capacity for the New York book launch of Stephen Jones Souvenirs and it was quite lovely. Stephen Jones, the magnificent English milliner who enchants the world with his creations seemed extremely happy last night when signing and making drawings on the book copies for his admirers from the Big Apple, a place he calls his second home.

“Souvenirs” is a remarkable documentation, published by Rizzoli, of a never ending career in fashion; penned by Susannah Frankel and with a beautiful and sincere foreword by Grace Coddington, who would like to claim that she discovered him. The book invites the reader into Jones’ life and career from the time of his mother pregnancy, his years at Saint Martin’s school of art, the Blitz Club era, glory in Paris and the world…..40 years of success of a 59 years of a continuing well lived life. This is with no question and no doubt a must have book; it will enrich your creative life and inspire you with its unlimited beauty.

I have always being a follower of his work, but last year I was a weekend guest of artist Scooter LaForge at the Festival Mode & Design in Montreal, where Stephen was also one of the lecturers; I had a opportunity to sit next to him during a lunch when I was able to really know a bit more of the person behind the iconic persona. Few months later, Stephen made my day when back in New York he attended an event put together in my honor…I will never forget when he discreetly was the last person to arrive. I knew he had a busy day, but he showed up. Yesterday, he wrote “Montreal forever” on my book copy. Amazing !!! Love you Jones.

It was definitely a pleasure to style another CA-RIO-CA SUNGA CO fashion show this past week in Los Angeles. The fun Brazilian brand, created by Gil Even, brought to Style Fashion Week a very colorful and of course sexy collection. Mustache prints, happy faces, flags, solid colors, peace themes….it was all part of the CA-RIO-CA SUNGA CO SS17 which had 27 looks. With the exception of the first four “kafia” looks paired with swimsuits that carried this theme, the styling for this show was light with the mission to only complement the designs created by Gil which always embodies a good sense of humor while elevating the male body form. I used the new Havaianas Action sandals mixed with the more recognizable classic version of this label. Most of the 13 hand picked models wore the Spice Necklace sharp pieces by Johnathan Cardillo. Tahitians colorful “cangas” bought in the Moorea Island gave a flowy super hero cape movement to some looks, oversized Invicta watches added masculinity when matched to bags and arm band accessories from Gilson Martins. And for the over the top rich eccentric customer traveler, model Kyle Kriesel walked down the runway carrying a $27,000 bag by designer Farbod Barsum / Beverly Hills made for Universal Body  paired with the “Por Do Sol-sunset” CA-RIO-CA sunga. Sunglasses were few; Havaianas and two vintage retro round pieces from my personal archives, they perfect framed the faces and hair created by Samuel Rodriguez. The peaceful final walk had white flags created by Rogelio Perez.

american airlines new safety video

american-now-fierce

Well, American Airlines has a new image: as of September 20th, the giant airline company changed their uniform employees , from the deep blue to a very chic dark grey with light blue and accents of red for the female group. To go along with the new look, the new safety video just dropped in the internet.
My opinion? I love it !! It is new, smart, different, it has a great fashionable speed and it gets the job done, because it gets you to be interested in it from beginning to the end. See it for yourself below.
And for those who don’t know….you can follow my adventures on American Airlines right here: Gazelle In The Sky

To celebrate their 10th anniversary, The Blonds revised some of their favorite moments keeping “platinum” as the starting point; so it was all about heavy metal glamour galore meeting Venus & Aphrodite and Tina Turner’s portrayal of Auntie Entity in the thunderdome…perhaps one of my favorite collections of this amazing duo !!

Simplicity was the center point at the Demoo Parkchoonmoo fashion show which was inspired by the concept of airiness and Demi’s own patchwork print paintings. As always, her industrial references comes wrapped in the functionality of a design. It felt easy, light, organic…and to be also simplistic, it was just beautiful !!

I attended the opening reception party for the El Museo del Barrio for ANTONIO LOPEZ: A Photo Cocktail Party. It was a pop-up installation at The Leslie Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art’s satellite space, The Prince Street Project, celebrating the 1979 legendary party hosted by Antonio Lopez and his creative partner Juan Ramos at New York City’s Robert Freidus Gallery. The event was hosted by Cynthia Powell and Robert W Richards, and attendees revived the scene atmosphere when Antonio and Juan invited party-goers to pose for a large-format polaroid camera and the images were immediately displayed on the gallery walls. I loved the photo I took with Snoogy Brown. Today is the last day of this exhibit, if you want to know a little more about this iconic fashion illustrator. The show, although small, is marvelous and inspiring….and yes my photo is there on the wall somewhere !
